PATRON'S MESSAGE
I am delighted to know that St. Mary’s Malankara Major Seminary, Trivandrum is launching its official website. The founding of St. Mary’s Seminary in the year 1983 was the fulfilment of the long cherished dream of Servant of God Mar Ivanios, the pioneer of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Reunion movement. For more than three decades now, the priests formed in St. Mary’s Seminary have nourished and deepened the faith of our people all over the country and abroad and built up the Church through their dedicated priestly and pastoral ministry thus fulfilling in great measure the prophetic words spoken by Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios of Happy Memory during his inaugural address: “you are the pioneers. Behind you come the glory and splendor.”
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church owes much to St. Mary’s Seminary. As the Head and Father of the Church and the Patron of the Seminary, I express my appreciation and indebtedness to this prestigious institution.
The launching of website is a milestone in the history of St. Mary’s Malankara Seminary. The Church exists precisely to communicate Jesus Christ and proclaim his Good News to all. And this Good News is a Person – Jesus of Nazareth, whom we are called to make known to the world. However, in the digital age, the Church is called to “read the signs of the times” and to find and use new means of communication in bringing the love of God to many peoples.
I am sure that the website of the Seminary will provide an ample platform not only to publish the news and events of the Seminary life but also to spread the word of God and to bring others to Jesus. May the motto of our Seminary – to continue Jesus’ mission of love and service – continue to inspire the generations of priests from the St. Mary’s Seminary to become a very effective instruments of the Church in India and everywhere to promote the Gospel and the Church.
May the Holy Spirit strengthen the Seminary and all its apostolates abundantly.
